World record!

The world's tightest window comes from Schattdorf.

An interview with Richard Arnold, Head of Technical Planning at Brand Metallbau AG and responsible for AURA. Together with his team, he is working on continuously optimizing the frameless sliding window in terms of know-how, innovative strength and technical possibilities.

‍Congratulationson the world record! What's behind it? Richard Arnold: There are more complex considerations behind the frame than you would expect at first glance. AURA, the new product generation, is the result of over 20 years of expertise and innovation. We were able to draw on the combined knowledge and design details that we have gathered over the years together with industry innovator Marcel Ritzi.

Can you briefly summarize the technical highlights? Our active sealing system is a real highlight. It is absolutely impermeable to driving rain, storms and noise, while at the same time enabling delicate face widths that were previously only possible with conventional sealing systems. In addition, there is an improved sliding technology that opens and closes rooms effortlessly and almost silently - with enormous flexibility in the opening variants.

Are there any other special features?
We have integrated many comfort options into the framework, such as ZIP screens for shading and temperature regulation, fully integrated insect screens or an electric drive. Everything is based on carefully selected materials and a strong manufacturing philosophy. We also test everything on our own test bench to ensure the highest level of precision craftsmanship - from design to installation.

‍How isBrand Metallbau AG responding to the growing challenges of climate change? We rely on sustainable materials and production processes. The aluminum for AURA comes from regional sources with a strong focus on recycling and resource conservation. Our CO2-reduced production and in-house test bench guarantee not only the highest quality, but also durability. In this way, we make an active contribution to environmental protection and at the same time offer solutions that can withstand even extreme weather conditions in the long term.

Best views and prospects.

The breathtaking view from Lake Lucerne to the Alps and the hillside location immediately caught the eye of the architects at Tanner Odermatt. This view was to be experienced in as many places as possible and staged in a targeted manner. Due to the topography, which slopes down to the south-east, the architects attached great importance to a deliberately multi-sided orientation of the project.

The impressive size of the project blends gently and naturally into the existing surroundings thanks to the stepped building volumes and outdoor spaces as well as a finely structured façade design.

Rooms with a view. When Lake Zurich provides the perfect setting.

The ensemble of two pavilion-like villas on an elevated plot with spectacular views over Lake Zurich also benefits to the full from our AURA window system in every respect. Thanks to the villas' transparent architecture, the duo blends harmoniously into the picturesque surroundings and allows the indoor and outdoor areas to flow seamlessly into one another.

Whether pool house or outdoor pool: the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Zurich is always the setting.

Only a few details - pallets, tools and a bit of barrier tape - indicate that the planning and construction teams are in the final stages of a special project.

Studio Sito Architekten GmbH were able to focus solely on their job. Brand Metallbau AG manufactured and installed the frameless sliding windows and glass elements with precision craftsmanship from a single source - a reliable system for sophisticated architecture.
